To make the journey one needs to make a path away from the “stuff” of our past and live in the ‘right now’ – to surrender what has been such a part of us and find the silence and space around us… our inner peace. And I can truly say that I am blessed with having met someone like Merci.

Coaching is a rather simple process. We must make a commitment to staying conscious and aware. And how easy might that be? Well it’s certainly easier to write than to practice such a thing. But then I have Merci to remind me of that each and every week.

After 12 years in Hollywood film production, I wanted to do something completely different, to give to the world in such a way as to make it better than I found it. Maybe help those with less health care advantages or animals facing destruction or fighting for a cure for AIDS. My coaching sessions, or lessons first started with questions, “Why does this happen and how can I change this behavior?”

But soon it was, “I have to tell you the most incredible discovery I made this week about how to let go or wow I’m seeing my reflection in someone else.” Or “I feel the pain it still gives me when I think that someone isn’t being very giving.” All these things are just a part of the incredible journey that I decided to take for my own spiritual growth. And the most incredible part is I could have just continued to be numb and not totally fulfilled but something told me that there was much more to life than what I had presently been dealt…and Merci was a part of the discovery.

Each day I am surrounded with all the answers, as long I am willing to see them. Each day I see myself in someone else as long as I am willing to really look at that other person. Each day I am put to the test of doing and saying things that I vowed that I would do. Each day I see myself getting a bit stronger and sometimes a bit weaker. Each day I am reminded that I am one of the most blessed peopled on this earth and that everyone around me is as well. Each day I just thank my GOD that I have the inspiration and the courage to feel uncomfortable and to feel awkward knowing that through these feelings I am becoming totally and deliberately me.

I lived in a small town where everyone new everyone, and I tutored kids. It was easy: I had a good reputation, was known at the local school, was a “local girl.” I then got a job with the State, and moved to Albany. I longed to be tutoring again, but didn’t know anyone in Albany, had no family connections here for introductions, and was feeling like it was hopeless to even get a start at it. Then I met Merci!

When we met, my goal was to “start tutoring again.” I was in no particular rush, after all, I had a job. Merci, with respect for this timing sense, still coached me through launching a successful tutoring business in about 6 weeks by helping me allocate my time resources to it, defining the customer, producing marketing materials and reaching the customer. It was an exciting time as I saw a dream become a reality. My business exists, and my phone rings! I have conferred with her on some of my difficult clients – as I try to coach someone through math the way she has coached me through obstacles.

Merci and I are working on launching another small business. My vision is to be solely sufficient working doing what I love and where my unique talents count. With Merci as a coach, this vision will materialize much sooner rather than later.
